May 16, 2007By: Fiona Ramsey
Are you going to be in New York this Friday, May 18th? Then support WEdia - and Kiva.org - at a guaranteed amazing time at Southpaw.
WEdia is a non-profit media company committed to giving a voice to the world's poor and marginalized populations. They match professional media volunteers with relief organizations and other NGOs to document ignored, forgotten and under-reported stories.
This summer, WEdia will send award-winning volunteer filmmakers to visit some of Kiva.org's partners in Central America to capture the stories of Kiva.org entrepreneurs on video. This will be very exciting to share with Kiva Lenders - and the world - through the media and the Kiva.org website. Other organizations whose work will be documented on this trip include AIDG (Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group), Maya Pedal, Bikes Not Bombs and Pro Mujer.
To help fundraise for this trip - WEdia are holding a benefit show this Friday, May 18th.
Bands and DJs will rock Southpaw from 8:00pm till late! Dancing, raffles and a guaranteed amazing time
$20 before 11pm, $10 after 11pm.
Southpaw is located at 125 Fifth Ave. in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Get directions.
