In February, Leona’s, a small batch ice cream company in Pittsburgh, Penn., made history by being the fastest Kiva campaign ever to raise $25,000. It took just 2 days for the purveyors of fresh pints and fine ice cream sandwiches to reach their goal, and it couldn’t have happened soon enough — a mechanical failure in one of their freezers ruined an entire season’s worth of inventory, and with spring fast approaching, time was of the essence.
To celebrate Leona’s owners Katie Heldstab and Christa Puskarich's success, this week’s links are all about ice cream. Check them out below, and support other Kiva borrowers enriching their communities with food here!
