Kiva Ranked among Best Microfinance Nonprofits in the World
October 29, 2010By: JD Bergeron
As Kiva celebrates its fifth birthday, we are very proud to have been ranked 6th by Philanthropedia in a listing of the most effective organizations working on international microfinance. The list was devised from the voting and analysis of 131 microfinance experts from around the globe.
At the young age of five, Kiva is honored to be cited alongside industry powerhouses including ACCION International, Grameen Foundation and BRAC.
The study commends Kiva for its ability to engage the public in microfinance, its innovative approach and the rapid impact. Furthermore, we are pleased that the advice of these same experts describes areas which we have already been working on: transparency, industry collaboration (especially in the area of social performance), adding features and increasing our product offering.
