A loan helped to buy more rubber dishes, clothes, and wood to sell.

Maima's story

Maima is 40 years old and lives in Liberia. She is the single mother of eight children who are all in school and live at home. She is a hardworking businesswoman who sells rubber dishes, clothes and wood to earn a living.

She started her business with a loan from a friend and learned how to sell from her mother. She has no problem with her sales and uses a car to transport supplies to her business site. She sells it Monday through Saturday.

Maima has approached BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner, to request a loan to buy more items to sell to her customers. She likes her business because sales are profitable, and because it supports her family. She would like to build a shop and continue sending her children to school in the future. Maima is highly grateful for the financial support made possible by Kiva lenders.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
