A loan helped to buy more food to cook in her restaurant.


Sudat's story

Sudat is 33 years old and lives in the town of Matugga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children who are both currently in school. For the past 6 years, Sudat has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food.

To help expand her business, Sudat has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more food to cook and will help Sudat to generate greater profits and improve on the sales and hence her family's standard of living. Sudat hopes that in the future she will be able to Business expansion. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance (MF) program. The program primarily serves small group members like Sudat who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
