A loan helped to purchase drinks, rice, oil, soap, Vita, salt, and pepper to sell.

Melvina's story

Meet Melvina! She is 26 years old and lives with her partner and two children. Both children are in school. Melvina completed school up to tenth grade.

Melvina sells drinks, rice, oil, soap, Vita, salt, and pepper and has been in this business for the past three years. She learned how to sell from her mother and started the business with her own savings. She sells Monday through Saturday and uses a car to transport her supplies. She has no problem with her sales. She likes her business because it enables her to provide for her family.

Melvina applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva Lending Partner to purchase more drinks, rice, oil, soap, Vita, salt, and pepper to sell to her good clients. She wants to buy land and build houses in the future.

Melvina thanks all lenders!

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
