A loan helped to expand her business by buying more cereals.

Farida's story

Farida is a 49-year-old single mother of four children, living in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She is a dedicated and hardworking entrepreneur who started her food crop business in 2021. In the beginning, she bought food crops from the Manzese market and supplied them to schools, where she received payments upon delivery.

Over time, her business has grown significantly. Today, Farida buys food crops in bulk—by the ton—and sells them both within Tanzania and to neighboring countries such as Uganda and Mombasa, Kenya. Her goal is to continue expanding her business by exporting to more upcountry regions in Tanzania and increasing her profits.

When she travels upcountry to collect food crops, she usually hires three men to assist her with collecting, packing, and loading the crops for transportation.

Farida has been a member of Victoria Finance since 2015 and is now seeking a loan from Kiva lenders to increase her working capital. This loan will help her fulfill client orders on time and continue growing her business.

The income from her business helps her support her family by covering basic needs such as food, education, and health insurance. In addition to caring for her children, Farida also supports a relative who depends on her for daily essentials.

She is very grateful to Kiva and Victoria Finance for their ongoing support. Farida is known for her strong character and commitment and promises to repay the loan on time. Her dream is to fully support her family and improve their quality of life.
