A loan of $350 helps a member to buy cost efficient maize seeds and fertilizer for the coming harvesting season.

Lilian's Group's story

Pictured above is Lilian, who, as a group leader, is representing her group formed by eight farmers in Lugari District, Kenya. She is a mother to six children and is known by her community as a very trustworthy person.

Initially, Lilian joined One Acre Fund in 2013 because she wanted to have access to quality training and acquire new farming methods. Since she joined the program she says that her life has improved, especially because she has had more profits from each harvest. With the profits from the coming harvesting season, Lilian plans to send her children to school.

Between the eight farmers in Lilian's Group, a total of 5.5 acres of land will be planted using the maize seeds and fertilizer received with the loan.

In this group: Lilian, Dorcas, Gilbert, Nancy, Michael, Janet, Everlyne, Moses

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
