A loan of $1,100 helps an elderly member form the vulnerable Egyptian community to pay for his personal medical clinic expenses so he will recover his health and will lead a normal life.

Demirali's story

Demirali is a 69-year-old member of the vulnerable Egyptian community, living only with his elderly wife in Korçe city. They are the parents of two adult children, who are both married and living abroad with their families.

Demirali and his wife live in a one-room house, which has become much more comfortable after Kiva lenders' support; they have adjusted part of the house in a small bar-café, where Demirali can provide an extra income for his family.

"During the communism era, we members of the vulnerable communities were given first-floor apartments, as the more uncomfortable ones. Now, we make use of them by adapting and renting part of the house as shops or bars! Thank God we have this opportunity, because we have very low retirement pensions," said Demirali during the interview.

Demirali is asking for a Kiva loan to pay for his personal medical clinic expenses so he will recover his health and will lead a normal life.

"I haven't felt well recently and doctors have suggested treatments and medication which cost a fortune. I hope I can have your support to deal with this expense," said Demirali hopefully.
