A loan helped to pay for her elderly husband's medical clinic expenses so he will recover and will be able to lead a normal life again.

Marë's story

Marë is an elderly woman from a village in north Albania. She and her husband are both retired, even though they both continue to perform different activities to gain something more, beside their very low retirement pensions. Marë has 60 hens and she sells eggs and baby chickens, while her husband does reporting from the surrounding areas for a national TV, when needed.

Marë's husband has been having some health problems for a long time. "North Albanian men do not go easily to hospitals..." this attitude caused him to neglect his health until it deteriorated enormously. When doctors visited him for the first time they were surprised how he had endured so much pain! Presently he has become more reasonable so he is willing to undergo the treatment and take medications that the doctor suggested!"- said Marë, during the interview. Marë hopes for Kiva lenders to help in paying for her elderly husband's medical expenses so he will recover and will be able to lead a normal life again.
